Beginning on January 1\, 2014\, North Dakota&rsquo\;s State Building Code will include new energy efficiency requirements in the 2012 International Residential Code. \;Attend this session to learn more about:
1. Basic building science&mdash\;heat transfer\, moisture movement
2. Scope&mdash\;residential buildings\; exempted buildings\; alterations\, renovations\, repairs\; mixed use buildings
3. International Residential Code vs. International Energy Conservation Code
4. Overview&mdash\;focus on envelope\, ducts\; information on HVAC\, lighting\, appliances\, water heating
5. International Energy Conservation Code Compliance&mdash\;mandatory\, prescriptive\, performance
6. Specific requirements&mdash\;envelope\, ceilings\, walls (above and below grade\, steel frame\, mass)\, fenestrations\, floors\, slab
7. Performance alternative&mdash\;trade-offs\, computer software (REScheck)\, mandatory requirements\, air sealing and insulation options
